I think it was meant for down payment on a house once he got married... also I'd be mad as hell if I paid for all of my kid's living expenses and then he spent a few thousand dollars on a lease when I was already paying for him to live somewhere
I think it's a saving account so you could lose interest payments if you withdraw money earlier
