This. It's really irritating when publishing companies make authors do continuation of finished popular stories and then you can tell by the result that the author hasn't thought that far.
Probably the only manga that had this kind of situation but managed to be good is ore to joushi. Its first few chaps was ass but the development of the characters was so good.
Most of this author's work is pretty hit and miss. They seem to enjoy using typical JP BL stereotypes in their work. But this one got popular and they probably realized there's only so much BS you can drag out until you're force to do some ACTUAL character development.
