I think it's basically used to feed into a mans ego, like she is so weak, pitiful, can't do anything on her own, and needs to be protected, and he is the big strong man that will provide her with anything as long as she desparetly clings to him, again inflating his ego and making him think that he is the greatest person in the world and that women simply couldn't live without him often not realizing that they are with them cause they are useful at the moment but the moment they stop being useful they would leave them without a second thought.

Ok maybe i was a bit harsh and i agree with you that people feel sympathy and the need to protect when they see someone cry, but in most of the manhwa/manga that i have read the guys rearly help just out of sympathy, usually they have some sort of gruge against FL or they feel inferior to her, so when a pretty girl cries in their arms it boosts their ego, she is more like a thropy to them to show around or a tool used to destroy or make the FL pay attention to them, and the girls in these stories know to pick out the easiest target to cling to but they also overlook that their little trick won't work on everyone, so the relathionship between these people is one where they use eachother for their own needs until they are eventually destroyed by FL and ML

Um.... this is rather confusing. In these stories who's the one crying? The FL or "FV"? Who's ego is being boosted, the ML or MV, perhaps the guy who wants the FL out of obsession? Cause you mentioned "trophy", the MV's trophy? Or the obsessed guy, perhaps the obsessed guy. I read one manga like that once, her brother was the MV, she was the princess who had an obsessed guy chasing her. He wanted to lock her up as a trophy to look at. Freak lol. Think the brother killed him
Actually I have questions..every manhwa or manhua I read about villain using tears to seduce man..is that actually works in real life? Like... how that kind of trope exist?? That's what I curious about (ʘᗩʘ’)
