To be fair it’s just a translation for a term like “hyung” or “onii” (in this case ge) where the term usually means older brother but is also often used to just refer to an older male you’re close to which is why many younger romantic partners use them too. In other words it doesn’t have the incestuous undertones the English translation does LMAO
