Because I see that everyone is talking about Esteban and Llewyn relationship but not enough about the crazy stuff that the crown prince just said to Rous.
Because what he just said to him is just horrible. Although he's no saint either. Which we could debate later. But I think I can understand why Esteban and Rous behaves like this.
No but lets be for real if I will live my life with a big brother that I loved and admired who does not stop stealing everything that is dearest to me And no one wants to defend me and the more you tell me I should be grateful that he tries to spend time with me. I'm going to become the Joker.
No but no one wants to see things from Esteban's point of view and it annoys me. I'm not saying that what he does is right but I say that we should try to understand how he function.
Because we know it if I remember correctly his mother died or he was taken away from her by force to be sent to the palace there he will meet his father and brothers for the first time and he realizes very quickly that those people do not want to welcome him in the capital.
And he is seen more as a threat or an object of entertainment than a person . And to make it more complicated the big brother who he loves and admires was different of what his was thinking of .
So to protect what was dear to him he learned that if it was destroyed he could keep it so he starts applying it to every aspect of his life which didn't work with Llewyn obviously so can we please let him learn how to be a decent human being because he lived a large part of his childhood without anyone to teach him what to do in life and that he reproduces this unhealthy defense mechanism with everything because it was the only one thing that worked
Now we can talk about Rous for me Rous is a kid who fell in love with the wrong person and you can say whatever you want I don't care my opinion will remain the same.
You will ask why . Because the prince Crown Prince doesn't like him and he considers him as one of his possessions. And do you realize how fck up that he doesn't even consider him as a human but a possession .
And I think Rous realized the mistake he made but it was already too late since they are engaged . And that's why he's trying so hard to break off their engagement. And but the reasons it didn't work is because he still has feelings for him .
And that the crown prince does not wish to break off the engagement because not only would it harm his reputation as the perfect crown prince but above all he cannot bear that one of his "possessions" want to free himself from his hold.
For all the people who think that I say without proof I have it he says it himself in chapter 72 and when Rous asked Esteban to marry him we see very well his reaction And don't tell that it's the reaction of a person in love, we could see very clearly that there was a very drastic different reaction between Llewyn's reaction and The Crown Prince's reaction. And Rous knew it will would happen.
And the fact that he's been acting like a manipulative Bstard from the very beginning doesn't help his case. By that I mean that when Esteban was being bullied by the other noble children he did nothing when they tried to assassinate him he did nothing and same go for Rous When everyone insults him he does absolutely nothing and the fact that he does nothing encourages people in their behavior and that has is a problem while he is in a position of power says everything about his character.
And if by any misfortune these two really end up together after all I will drop this history.
