I both adore and resent the first story. I love the storytelling and how they portrayed the hurt and angst, it’s so sad in a good way, but I can’t stop thinking about how the king only cherishes and remembers his concubine whenever he didn’t have much. Like he was his backup whenever he failed or something. The point of the king ending up in the same place he began was super poetic and great for the story’s themes, but it made the romance bittersweet. Like you can take it one of two ways, the king views his concubine as the safe backup option or as his home that he eventually returns to.
I liked the canary one, some angst creeping up but ML comes and he’s great. I loved MC’s fluffy af ears(?)
