They romanticise it because the duke is handsome and when a person is good looking people are quick to forget and forgive. If you read the novel it’s so much ‘easier’ to hate on him since you only focus on his ugly actions.
Also the ppl calling Leila a villain or not a victim are imo the type of people who ask “What was she wearing tho?!” when a woman gets SA.

The duke is absolutely the worst! I don’t know how people can even sympathize with the duke when he is nothing more than a friggin’ psycho predator stalking its prey! (︶︿︶) The FL is literally a victim of his twisted desire for her that is driving him insane b/c she seems to easily brush him off from his perspective (which is really traumatic for her), and he can’t stand it! I feel bad for the FL b/c she is fine living a simple life with the simple people who simply love her and vv. Even if he chooses her over that snooty noble chick (whatever her name is), I hope the FL tells him to go rot in H€LL demon… you and your d@mn fiancé!
This isn't my first rodeo with this type of troupe (the characters were older i think) and I'm sure it isn't some of y'all either (I can name at least 3 from the top of my head)...so tell me why *side eyes the comment section* I keep seeing some folks in here talking about MC not being a victim and she liking the Duke.
In this point in time how is she not a victim?...I'm curious honestly. If anyone who has an opposing view and time to waste, drop a comment because I want to see how your brains can conjure up things that doesn't make sense.
(I'm not trying to be rude nor will I be, unless you are).
