I dont think we have gotten a reason other then they like him. He is not as strong but he works hard and they respect him for how hard working he is. Also I think that because he accept and respect them they give the same back.
In the beginning it is kinda like when the friend group has a dog they all love or a small child they live and listens to not because the child or dog is stronger then them but because they like.it.
At least thar is how I am reading their early relationship in the group.
I'm still chapter 10, can someone tell me why the Mc's squadmates are so concerned of him even tho he is still weak, they changed their attitude when near him, I'm kinda liking each of them already lol
