Why do you read yaoi/BL or yuri/GL!

Honestly idk why my preferences for stories are also BL. Ever since i discovered the genre and went down the rabbit hole, i can't seem to escape now i guess i have to admit i like seeing men interact with each other in a romantic way (also platonic) and somehow it just seems to appeal me. Sometimes its also the plot cuz there are REALLY good BLs out there with outstanding writing and plot. I also read GL from time to time but i wouldn't say I'm invested in the genre as I am with BL. But it can be tiring sometimes so I go out of my comfort zone to read something different.

You shouldn’t only consume yaoi bc it gets to a point where you are fetishizing gay man but I also can tell that you are young and this also could do to the fact that you might have internalized misogyny that’s why you feel more comfortable with a male protagonist but feel uncomfortable with women falling in love.

Uhm, idk how I’m fetishizing gay men, but you can expound on that if you want. Maybe I am, but I don’t personally think so. I also don’t think I have internal misogyny, and I don’t think women falling in love is weird?? I have a few GL ships myself, I just don’t like yuri/GL really because I’m interested in men, not women, when it comes to sex/relationships.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying BL, but if that’s the only thing you consume it’s definitely fetishization because you’re not looking at gay men as real people just your entertainment. It’s like how men watch lesbian porn bc they like women, but they reduce women to sexual objects. It’s similar to only readings yaoi, but of course not as bad since men actually murder lesbians but you read for the same reasons cause you’re attracted to that gender but again there’s people with those sexualities in real life and so maybe you should be mindful.

Hmm I suppose I can that viewpoint. Either way, I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong or harming anyone. But to each their own
