It is slow paced in romance because it is focused on Mokha's growth. The rape scene is important because it shows how Mokha is so indifferent and detached to the point he doesn't really "care" about his life. Which is understandable because of his past experiences. He can't accept love cause he doesn't know it. He doesn't even love himself.
That's why Nakwon is so happy when Mokha showed his anger because that means he's starting to care about his own well being. The beach scene in season 3 shows us that Mokha is slowly opening up and accepting the ML. I think this story will last at least 5 seasons. This season 4 is probably a romance development but we still have the story about the Mad Cow.
i'm sorry but are we even reading the same thing? the rape scene has a VERY important place in this story. it shows the power difference between the two characters and nakwon repeatedly thinks about how it affected their relationship. meanwhile for mokhwa it's nothing but a display of nakwon's control (being a police inspector) over him at that time
I wanna add that it also shows that Nakwon is already obsessed with Mokhwa at this point. In his inner monologue, he said violence and desire has a thin line. He was in denial (well he repeatedly said he was straight) and chose to hurt Mokhwa instead. Like a kid who bullied his crush to get their attention
I’m writing this not knowing spoilers so any would be helpful. I like reading about (eventually) mutual attraction. Of course drama and sad endings too but this isn’t tagged tragedy. This seems to either be very slow burn or it’s always going to be pretty one sided? If anyone has spoilers lmk. I genuinely do not know.
This has me getting slightly annoyed because the MC hasn’t given me any solid evidence he isn’t secretly a brick wall.(in a good way, I love him tooBricks are my favorite kind of wall building material) If it were real life I’d get him not liking ML but this is yaoi/a love story so eventually he should show attraction? So does he soon? We’re on chapter 82 and we’ve got a “You’re cute” Slow burn is valid and I read it.. but things still need to happen and romance stories going at a snails pace when it comes to the romance gets a bit tiring.

I think I said this in a previous comment months ago, but the rape thing felt like it was just there to be a shock/pull factor in the beginning and didn’t add to/effect the story. The rape was such a shockingly horrible thing.. only for it to be not important in the story. If it was something revisited throughout the story and the MC’s trauma was existent then I probably wouldn’t love ML but it feels like such a different character did that. Feels OOC and just was used to attract readers. (It doesn’t feel right because it feels just so crazy for the character. Nonsensical? Of course rape in general is horrible and nonsensical but yk what I mean. for the character it doesn’t fit imo.)
People bring it up whenever someone complains about MC not liking ML like it’s something important to the story/characters/author even though the author added and forgot about it. “He’s having a hard time falling in love because ML raped him.” I guarantee you that’s not why the romance is going so slowly.
Yes, media literacy. Read into stories and search for deeper meanings but sometimes the author just added something for shock. :( It’s used as a “awe I have to try to get him to forgive me” plot device rather than a deeply horrifying action.
I’ve been rooting for the ML because even though he is an asshole, he’s turned into a character I can root for, and the random terrible moment seems so out of character. I don’t imagine it as something he did because when has it mattered to the characters/story? Idk some might disagree. He’s an asshole yes but I root for him every chapter O_O
TLDR;
The romance feels very one sided and the pace is making me slowly lose interest. :( (Even after a reread) The MC is like a (nice)beige wall rn. We’re 82 chapters in already. The random rape scene was just to attract readers and don’t meaningfully impact the characters or the story. And I’m rooting for the ML because he’s interesting and silly.
Using my foresight to see that this might be disliked into oblivion. just remember this is the opinion of someone ignorant of the future and its just how I feel rn my feelings might change.
