Story so far,
Dr.Seok- Main character, very weak body but genius researcher, loves rocks, bottom, mutant
Major Kwak Suhwan - Main character, strongest man in rainbow city, smart but acts like a dumbass, top, also doesn’t like listening to the higher ups, mutant
Major Lee Chae Yun- Side character, mutant, importance is within the storyline, very strong
Major Yang Sang Hoon- Side character, mutant, importance is within the storyline, very strong
Immortal regiment- a regiment of S class soldiers that survived years of missions and training to the point where they are unstoppable, members are: Major Kwak (leader), Major Lee and Major Yang, their purpose is to serve the masters of rainbow city and do their dirty work
Rainbow city masters- Rainbow city government is ran by 2 masters. First master and second master who are currently in a battle among themselves for more power
Adams- zombies but they are called adams
The garden of Eden- like from the Bible, but the garden of Eden is a cult hell bent of running rainbow city to the grounds believing it is “rotten”, they also capture and experiment with rainbow city soldiers
Mutants- Mutants are children “born” with enhanced skills and a defect believed to be the human evolution in order to combat the Adam virus, they also have something they are obsessed with.
Dr.Seok and the immortal regiment are all mutants.
Dr.seok’s enhancment being his genius and his defect being his weak body etc
Dr.Oh- Dr.Seok’s mentor who is dead
Dr.Kim- Dr.Seok’s researcher co-worker
Yeouido- Rainbow city’s main and biggest shelter with 60 floors, where Dr.seok will be staying
Gwacheon- another shelter but for demoted Majors
(Okay that’s it for the important points, time to summarize the manhwa)
The base for the plot is that centuries a French company wanted to sell a vaccine so they released a virus which got out of control cause it kept mutating and the vaccines became useless.
SO the problem is everytime the researchers would make a new vaccine, the virus would mutate and the vaccine would be useless, and when the story begins it’s already on it’s 7th variant,
Anyways, Major Kwak who got in trouble for going into the red zone to sneak booze, needs to get Dr.Seok back to Rainbow city from jeju island (cause Dr.Seok was there before but went back, btw Rainbow city is located in what was once Seoul, Korea)
He manages to get Dr.Seok back to Yeouido, and he heads for the lab discovering his mentor, Dr.oh had been murdered so he immediately starts to investigate Dr.Oh’s murderer and meets Dr.Kim who tells him that the higher ups are pressuring them for a vaccine again but for some reason doesn’t want them to make a cure, and also tells him there’s a rumor Major Kwak killed Dr.Oh.
He goes to Dr.Oh’s old house to find his old research notes with Major Kwak, when they get attacked by an Adam which was Dr.Oh’s son. But the weird thing was he was talking (adams cannot speak) so they go back to the shelter and report it to the higher ups who then conduct an investigation on the body. He also finds something about the garden of Eden on the notes
He goes back to the lab and wonders more about Dr.Oh’s death as the storyline moves to his domesticated life in the shelter for awhile before he meets Major Lee and Major Yang, get acquainted and they tell him they need to go to the zoo (the zoo is where the military keeps it’s captured adams)
They go there and Dr.Seok finds out that the adams had their vocal chords cut so they can’t speak (which was odd cause if the government really wanted to study this new variant of adams then they should’ve let them speak) so that’s more suspicious.
Anyways on their way back Dr.Seok gets kidnapped by rebels (or the garden of Eden) who plays him Dr.Oh’s last will which tells him when Dr.Seok went back to jeju island, the city did everything to prevent Dr.Oh from contacting him and how it was weird that the virus kept mutating. Then the guy who is talking to Dr.Seok reveals he’s the garden’s serpent (meaning he’s the leader of the rebels), but Dr.Seok is blindfolded so he can’t see.
The immortal regiment eventually finds the place Dr.Seok is at cause he’s got a tracker in his arm and Major Kwak goes to find Dr.Seok, comes back to find Major Lee struggling to fight the Serpent (which is really weird cause the immortal regiment are all S class soldiers, the strongest in rainbow city, and they can’t take him down) Major Kwak eventually shoots the guy on the shoulder and he leaves. They find Dr.Seok and goes back to Yeouido,
Lieutenant General Yeon Tae, starts questioning Dr.Seok cause duh, their chief researcher got kidnapped by rebels and Dr.Seok lies and tells them he got knocked out and can’t remember anything. He calls Major Kwak in and tells him his side of the story so Yeon Tae gives up and lets them go.
At night, Dr.Seok couldn’t stop thinking about how weird it was and goes to Major Kwak’s room to tell him about the serpent and Dr.Oh’s will then asks him if he can…oh wait.
Mother- Mother is an AI system in rainbow city that acts as a surveillance camera, and a database full of the city’s data. Access to data is determined by the higher ups.
So Dr.Seok tried to access the file for Dr.Oh’s murderer but finds his access was blocked by the higher ups so then he goes to Major Kwak’s room to talk before asking him if he could let him see Dr.Oh’s murderer case cause Major Kwak has access to all the data. After some negotiations, he lets Dr.Seok see it but Dr.Seok realizes that none of it made sense.
Goes back to his room, but the next day the military knocks on his door and takes him down to the interrogation chamber where Major Yoo, another Major starts questioning him to which he continues to say he’s been knocked out. Major Yoo then pulls out a truth serum and apparently the truth serum was invented by a researcher by the name of Dr.Wonho who conducted research alongside Dr.Oh but was murdered by the government after being injected with the truth serum and confessed to siding with the rebels.
He tries using it on Dr.Seok and Dr.Seok continues to deny it, and Major Yoo says he knows he went to Major Kwak’s room last night. But then Major Kwak barges in and stops Major Yoo from interrogating him to Which Dr.Seok confesses he went to Major Kwak’s room to “kiss him” which was true because he needed to do that in order for Major Kwak to show him Dr.Oh’s murder case.
Major Kwak, then takes care of Dr.Seok telling him to stop trying so hard to find out the truth cause it can get him in trouble because “mother” is always watching.
after the day Dr.Seok was given the truth serum, he goes to the cafeteria and meets Major lee who starts talking shit but then Major Kwak comes and asks him where he got that bruise from, to which he replies “major Kwak” and answers his questions as if he remembers everything that happened which caused Major Kwak to drag him out because you ain’t supposed to remember anything with the effects of the truth serum. Dr.Seok had built immunity so that’s why but Major Kwak warns him to not show that to the police, cause if they knew he was immune that’s more reasons to suspect he might rebel and that Mother is always watching.
Mother being an ai system in the base that gives you information based on the base’s data and serves as a camera to watch over the entire base with the first and second masters reviewing the footages.
Then there was a flashback of Major Kwak with Dr.Oh and it was revealed that it was Dr.Oh who helped Major Kwak enlist in the military and become a citizen of Rainbow city. After that we get shown Major Kwak watching over the Gwacheon shelter, asks commander Cha for a bit of info before picking up something and leaving. Gets in the car and tuned a radio which broadcasts a bit more information about the garden of Eden. Of it being a cult bent on taking down Rainbow city and misleading people with a fake vaccine and giving the people false hope, basically telling lies. (This this is rainbow city, so you got reason to suspect it’s all propaganda, but we’ll get to that later)
After that we cut to Dr.Seok and Dr.Kim about to go to a researcher meeting to talk about recent discoveries and reports. Dr.Kim tells Dr.Seok to not trust Major Kwak so much and to avoid him (probably knows something, again we’ll get to that later). The First Master then talks to Dr.Seok about Dr.Oh’s death blah blah blah. After the Meeting Major Kwak comes and gives Dr.Seok the thing he picked up from Gwacheon which was a rock shaped like his penis in which Dr.Seok happily accepts and actually really loves cause he ends up carrying that thing everywhere.
He thinks about asking Major Kwak for help because when he got kidnapped, the serpent told him to meet in front of Dr.Oh’s house in 2 days, and he can’t get out of the shelter without help. (Mans don’t got a drivers license). Goes up the stairs and meets Major Yang who gives him a bit more insight on himself, his mutation trait. Major Kwak went to the garden of Eden headquarters.
Dr. Seok talks with Major Yang for awhile before Major Kwak came back, calling for a Major Yang who has Dr.Seok go with him. When they got down, there was a kid that Major Kwak captured who claimed to be a member of the garden of Eden and was spewing stuff like “rainbow city experiment on people” which seems like he was fed propaganda and was told lies to. Anyways, Major Kwak had Major Yang watch over the kid because apparently he’s not actually from the garden of Eden but a fake. There are lots of fake garden of Eden’s in order to recruit people and have them do dirty work like trying to find food in the red zone, exactly what they did to this kid. And it’s revealed that Major Yang was also like that when he was younger, and was also originally not a citizen of rainbow city, but got recruited later on, went into the military and gained his membership. So Major Kwak thought to have him teach the kid and maybe one day they could recruit him as well.
Dr.Seok then asks Major Kwak if he could find a place where mother isn’t watching, basically no camera or wiretaps. (Meaning what he wants to say might upset the military police)
They go to a run down restaurant to talk about the development of vaccines, more on Dr.Oh’s murderer, and more on his kidnapping in which Major Kwak tries to convince him otherwise, and how the garden of Eden might of edited the will and told him lies. And he tells Major Kwak about the serpent wanting to meet him. And it seemed like Major Kwak was purposefully avoiding the matter on Dr.Oh’s death.
Cut to Major Yang and the kid they brought and it was here they revealed Major Yang’s past and how he wanted the kid to be a part of rainbow city too just as he had beenand the kid talks about how his elder told him that rainbow city experiments on people and injects people with viruses, in which nobody listens to him. (more later)
Cut to Dr.Seok getting out of the experimentation room after another failed attempt of a vaccine to see Dr.Kim snooping around and acting sus. Dr.Kim acts dumb so Dr.Seok ignores it and went to find Major Kwak to go eat together. After which he asks him if he could get his sperm later, to which he agrees. They go eat and Major Yang brought the kid to the cafeteria to eat in which he yells some more but he’s just banter, finally sits down to eat but then Dr.Kim shows up, and they talk. Dr.seok notices the kid became quiet and looked a little strange. But then an alarm started blaring for an Adam as a solider turned into an Adam. Everyone starts running but then they looked back and saw Major Yang holding down the kid who was about to turn into an Adam. He couldn’t kill him as he couldn’t understand why the kid of transforming as he was fine and didn’t come into any contact with Adam blood. Major Walk kills him and Dr.Seok sees a syringe with Adam blood in it by his feet, which was weird because Major Yang stated that he checked the kid when they came into the cafeteria and he didn’t have anything on him.
Worry about that later because Major Kwak got Dr.Seok into the military jeep in order to drive him to the violet zone to avoid the adams. But when they got there news spread that the Yeouido shelter they just came from was on fire and just as they heard the news, zone 13, which was right in front of them, went up in flames, clearly an attack from the garden of Eden. The higher ups started yelling on the radio. And Naturally Major Kwak, Dr.Seok and Major Yang was suspected of collliding with the rebels. Cause first of all, Major Yang was the one who brought the kid in that had Adam blood on him, and the moment Major Kwak and Dr.Seok left the shelter, it blew up as if they knew it would, so they are all under suspicion.
The military starts questioning Major Kwak, while Dr.Seok gets sent down to the interrogation chamber again with Major Yoo, who this time threatens to pop his fingernails off, starting with his pinky. Anyways, Dr.Seok can’t take the pain and says he’ll speak. Cut to Major Kwak, who tells the military that he and Dr.seok was out on a date when the shelter blew up and nobody believes him until they got a footage of them in the car flirting and talking about going on a date. But then Dr.Seok comes in with his hand wounded, and the higher ups decided the punishments. Major Kwak was to be transferred to Gwacheon shelter, while Dr.Seok continues to work in Yeouido. Meaning Dr.Seok can’t see Major Kwak anymore. After that, he tries to confort Dr.Seok. They get to Dr.Seok’s room and Dr.Seok asks Major Kwak for sperm. He agrees, but wasn’t able to get any sperm because Dr.Seok can’t give blowjobs and when Major was about to enter him, he fell asleep, so they just went to sleep. After Dr.Seok woke up, Major Kwak was already gone, and he sad.
Goes to the cafeteria, Major Yang was sentenced to Gwacheon as well. But Major Lee came back from her expeditions and cheered up Dr.Seok. (God I love Major lee)
Major lee then talks a bit about the garden of Eden headquarters but stops herself, telling Dr.Seok it’s a secret.
Cut to Major Kwak at Gwacheon, with messages from the masters as he researched more oh Dr.Oh’s death and apparently he got Commander Cha to watch over Dr.Seok and someone to spy on Dr.Kim. Because first of all, Major Yang is not the type of person to rebel or give Adam blood to an innocent kid. Dr.Seok obviously didn’t do it, so the only person that was there that could’ve given the kid Adam blood was Dr.Kim and he’s hella sus.
Back to Major Lee and Dr.Seok planning to visit Gwacheon to see Major Kwak and Major Yang.
They turned on the radio and there was a broadcast by the garden of Eden saying they developed the vaccine for the 7th Adam variant. Tried to ignore it but Major Lee got a message from Commander Jiang telling then to return to Yeouido immediately so they did.
Anyways, the military is in uproar over the announcement from the garden of Eden cause it’s not a good look for them if their opp develops a vaccine before them. And the higher ups are yelling at the researchers. Asks Dr.seok what to do if the vaccine was real and he tells them then they should distribute it, but that got the higher ups more riled up because they won’t accept that a vaccine is from their opp, cause it shows they’re incompetent compared to their opp (which first of all, shows you they care more about their reputation than actually rescuing the people), but also kinda valid because the garden of Eden kidnaps rainbow city soldiers and experiment on them to develop the vaccine so they refuse to join hands with them is understandable. Dr.Seok brings up developing a cure, but can’t do that either cause for some reason the higher ups are hell bent on vaccines and not a cure.
Then Dr.Seok suggests actually checking out and studying the vaccine, try to make their own before Major Kwak comes in, holding a box of the vaccine he bought from a civilian who had it. Cute eye contact moment, before they’re all let go, and Dr. Seok was allowed to go back to the lab.
hangs out with Major Kwak and Major Yang for a bit, but they had to go back to Gwacheon immediately so there wasn’t much time. (Get a make out moment with Dr.Seok and Major Kwak) before he leaves and Dr.Seok becomes sadge again. (My poor baby) but he got his stone to remind him of Major Kwak. ANYWAYS, flashback of Dr.Seok’s childhood and how he was bullied for showing no emotions but didn’t do anything about it and was an outcast in school.
Flashback ends and Dr.Kim starts rambling about the garden of Eden which made Dr. Seok suspect him of being a rebel and giving the Adam blood to the kid, to which Dr.Kim continues to deny it, saying how he’s worked for Rainbow city for years blah blah blah. Anyways Dr.Seok didn’t press him for more and they tested the vaccine on rats, which it worked.
More information on the garden of Eden, and how the second master somehow knew the garden of Eden would become a threat. (More on that way later). Major Kwak was at the garden of Eden headquarters, clearing out adams and taking dog tags from dead soldiers when he got a message from Dr.seok on his walkie-talkie that Dr.Seok wants to meets him at Gwacheon.
Major Kwak goes and Major Lee and Dr.Seok is there. Dr. Seok wants to speak to him alone outside, where no one is watching and they do. And apparently even though the Vaccine was real, the city announced it as fake.
Vaccine is real but city says it’s fake and Dr.Seok tells Major Kwak about it to which Major Kwak responds with “so?” Turning a blind eye to the city’s actions and telling him that, the city gives you food and a place to stay, what more do you need? Dr.seok gets upset and Major Kwak tells him to stop dwelling more on it cause it’s going to get him in trouble and if he doesn’t stop he’ll have no choice but to arrest him.
We cut to the second master spying on them with mother but can’t hear what they saying and he’s got names with the labels of the 4 rivers of the garden of Eden showing that he obviously has insider information on the garden of Eden. And there’s more on his power struggle with the first master and they’re both trying to fight for the loyalty of Major Kwak.
