Omg this literally happened to my close friend, too. He threatened to kill himself if she really wanted to break up with him, and even threatened me and my other friend because somehow we "persuade" her to do that. Now they're still together.
Oh my gosh that's so horrible, if they found a balance and he isn't a psycho anymore then hopefully they're doing ok but if she's only with him because he's threatening her we need to start a riot, it's good that you didn't listen to his bullshit because hello why would I tell my friend to stay with you!?
I know this sounds horrible, but if someone told me they were going to kill themselves if I wanted to break up or didn't date them, I would still say no, especially because they said that. There was this one guy who told everyone he would do it if I said no, and that was suppose to "pressure" me into saying yes, and I still said no because I won't have you controlling me, and I know these love each other(at least in their versions of love) but they actually need to learn how to love... Caesar I'm looking at you.
