I still like Omega, but what it lacks that Asura and Star have is the higher stakes. The stakes are always ratcheting up in those. Even when there is a break you get the feeling it’s just the calm before the storm. The problem with Omega is it constantly ratchets down the stakes.
Kengan has new management, but factions are basically meaningless as we have rental fighters now and there’s no killing. Internal conflict is largely meaningless so the matches don’t feel like they have stakes now.
Pergatory starts to move in, but again no killing so stakes are not raised that much and then we seeminglessly merge to two afterwards with no issue
We have the big bad worm, but then they are basically and pretty easily dismantled and pose little threat now
We have the issue of cloning a connector, but then it’s decades away from becoming a thing so who cares
The connector is built up as the big bad, but he’s basically so chill and non threatening it seems like worse case is he takes Ohma and Ruuki, but that’s not exactly the end of the world
You’ve got evil Niko and such, but again he doesn’t really seem to be an insurmountable threat or really have a big bad plan. Same with Wu long
There’s also nothing inherently compelling about Ohma’s story either. He wants to get stronger same as everyone else, but there’s no real need driving him
Ruuki was gearing up to be interesting if he turned bad, but one fight and now he’s chill again
So really what are the stacks of Omega right now? Maybe like 1-2 guys we don’t want to give over to the connector? Couple of small time individual revenge stories?

Asura you have to the death fights over billions of dollars with the potential fate of a nation hanging in the balance

Stars you have a small group trying to defy the odds and rise to prominence while fighting on several fronts to do so and a cult with biological weapons capable of potentially destroying the nation

Nice explanation that Kengan Omega is actually a slice of life manga. We just enjoy it

Yep. There’s some fun fights regardless, but I am hoping that things can finally start to take off with the next tournament that has the connector. I have a theory that the other consciousness within the connector isn’t so chill and something could happen that swaps who controls the body.
