It’s about the same…a lot of people have recent bias when comparing these two but because the first half of POTN was very rough.

Well the difference is in painter of the night Nakyum didn't fall in love with a man that was massively neglecting an entire village and was murdering his remaining family. This one has a much stronger psychological aspect. The emperor is destroying every facet of docs life and every single thing he loves. Not just blackmail and sexual coercion. His wife died and his daughter is nowhere to be found. He's not allowed to partake his duties outside the palace. I don't recall Nakyums sister or Kianseng sisters being murdered in painter. Or Nakyum being fully confined and unable to go out, make friends, and talk to other people. This is way worse.
