honestly, yes, a lot. if the artstyle is ugly, has bad proportions or the characters look stiff it's a hard read for me... but usually I bear with it if I like the story or I know the artstyle is going to improve in the next chapters ┐('～`;)┌
I totally get what you mean, in your opinion do u remember any piece you’ve read where the art was unbearable but you still read it
For me even the art is kinda art it will gradually improve in the upcoming chapters. I can bear to read it if I like the story but if not im dipping out.
For me, the art style does matter I refuse to read anything if the fl has ginormous titties that look out of proportion and it’s clearly for fan service. It makes me uncomfortable. It also bothers me when the ml is out of proportion. He’ll be huge, but his head won’t match his shoulders and it bothers me as well. Like it gives those 90s BL and I can’t stand it.
for me personally, yes. art is like 90% of my reasoning to start reading something. no matter how good the story is, if the medium (in this case, art) takes me out of it then it's not doing its job - after all, the media that i'm reading relies on it to tell the story in the first place.
i dont think ive ever dropped a story purely because the art offended by eyeballs. idk if its because i grew up on webtoon's discovery section and developed a tolerance to slop, more tolerant to artistic mistakes because im an artist myself, or ive just never really encountered a story with such intolerable art. hypothetically, the only time where i'd do that is if the art was super grotesquely realistic ?? but that could be chalked up to personally preference
i would 100% drop a story for bad art.
im not here to read a book, im here to read good stories with good visuals.
As readers , do you guys really care about art? I know some stories don’t have the best art or proportions but the story being good makes me not even mind! Maybe its just me but I never really cared much about a good art style as longest the story was good
