I read the story again and wondered with all the info we have now if Pi Seong Chan (guy with glasses) pretended to be an NPC to not be caught by Doha? SInce he knows that everyone's tape was removed more or less voluntarily, maybe he had doubt on whether Doha still had his memory as he is/was the sharpest player of the group? Or for unknown reasons so far. The fact that he's been faking it until his tape was removed was always so questionnable
Anyway, reading back and wow the foreshadowing is crazy, like remember around chapter 42 when Pi Bada finds out that Doha found a tape (Pi Seong Chan's) in the cassette player at the beginning? Then, full of doubt, he said to Doha "Maybe since the beginning you were using the black cassette player, maybe..." The three stuff he mentioned were actually true!!!
Also, more on a symbolic aspect, the fact that Pi Bada is half asleep during reset, could it actually represent his position as a late player that came mid game? And if it's true, could it be perhaps that the reset starts way before this specific scene in the car? Indeed in the story we are focused on Pi Bada's view, but maybe that the story starts even earlier for the others who got to be playing way longer than him?
