Predator Marriage

Why does no one talk about how Predator Marriage is so racist and colorist. First of all, there was a literal racial slur used against brown/Romani people. Throughout the whole entire story all the brown characters are described as slaves, savages, animalistic, and aggressive. If you call this out, people will defend it like what is wrong with you? It’s not even historically, accurate and historically portraying Romani people correctly.

When I'm in a "stereotyping and fetishising people and things that shouldn't be stereotyped and fetishised" competition and my opponent is a Korean author

They're just built different I guess (not a compliment)

Theres been so many webtoons that i start readibg then drop because of their disgusting portrayal of other pocs. Like if it was like unreliable narratives then later cleared out rhe misunderstanding then it could be a moment of “dont judge a book by its cover” but nope. Its even outrageous when they use middle eastern/south asian traditional clothing. Like damn you got enough time to research the fashion but not enough to actually to look into their history and treat them like ppl? Wild

Also like you know theyre doing a shit job when they show the “barbaric” brown population and every single person is like the same shade. Not one white skinned person or a dark person

Exactly! Might be a controversial take, but I don’t want these authors to draw or write about brown characters if they’re just gonna portray them incorrectly, or based off of stereotypes. They should just stick to writing white character since that’s the only thing they love writing about. This is also why I am so close to dropping “how to get my husband on my side” the way they villainize and the only visible brown character is the villain rubs me off the wrong way not to mention he is based off of a historical religious figure who is a white man, so what was the need for the author to make him aggressive and brown?

Hmm interesting i didnt feel that way for the brother cuz hes has a darker skintone but not brown (or idk cuz im not too sure about their ethnicity). Also its not just him but that whole family is dogshit and her dad is has a lighter skin tone. Also another villain is that girliepop too.

Dont be too robotic/literal when you look into things like this. Theres a difference between villainizing a race vs a villain who happens to have a darker skin tone.

Well, it’s not only that the queen who is one of the
villains is a culture appropriated caricature of a dancer slave who is saved by a white man.…. Her character is very stereotypical. The reason why I just rubbed me off the wrong way because he’s the only one who has dark complexion and the main villain there is no other brown character that is represented well or perceived as the good guy all of them are pale as ghosts.
