plotwise it's actually quite unique, it's literally the first MMA fighter × PT kind of relationship in yaoi. it does have some similarities to BJ Alex but it's not finished yet, and it's not a crime to use popular tropes. fight scenes are very detailed and the art is hella fine. character wise I'd say Dan is a lot more interesting than ur average damsel in distress MCs who know absolutely nothing about the world. he's polite, smart, good at his job, competent, unlike popular opinion he is NOT a pushover, and has an actual personality outside of being a person in debt. even jjk, you could hate him all you want but the reason so many people have negative feelings towards him is literally bc he's written so well. yes he is quite dense emotionally and an annoying character, he gets on my nerves like no other but has he ever confined dan, killed innocent people, or led Dan on without being clear about things? no. he's always made sure to remind Dan their relationship is completely transactional, even if it hurt him. ofc there were many things he shouldn't have done (or in some cases, should have done) which may not be forgivable, but I still prefer him to some manic german/russian murderer who has no ounce of humanity left inside.
