the lore... THE LOREEEEE

so...
1. Everyone in the group has been "playing the game"
2. Bada joined last(?) - needs to be confirmed by Seongchan
3. Hyungshin and Jaeseob wiped their ORIGINAL SAVES first since they didnt like to be aware of dying over and over.
4. Yongtaek lost his OLD SAVE from the abandoned mine, which was then found in Ch50, causing his nosebleed.
5. Seongchan and Doha had a falling out after Yongtaek lost his SAVE
6. The checkmark tape is an OLD SAVE of either Doha or Seongchan (I think it's Doha's, which might be a plot twist)

besides that, the following game mechanics have been confirmed:
- TAPES are SAVE FILES
- CASSETTE PLAYERS are LOAD POINTS
- CLEARING AN AREA empties all of its data. this is MAINTAINED IN ALL FUTURE SAVES
- NEW PLAYERS can be BROUGHT INTO THE GAME
- An ENDING BOOK (found by Bada in Ch1) acts as an ARCHIVE that DOES NOT RESET

what is not confirmed (that i wanna know) are the following:
- when did every player enter the game
- the actual way to escape the game
- is the lodge they start at clearable
- seongchan and doha's falling out
- how bada entered the game

whew...
now for theories I'm gonna fire blind at...
1. The lodge they always park at the beginning of every run is the final/boss area of the game.
2. Clearing [or literally burning down] the lodge might be the actual escape from the game
3. Seongchan wants to keep everyone in the game
4. Doha having the hots for Bada is part-revenge against Seongchan and part-simp

RIP Yongtaek I did not expect dad joke guy to become an absolute GOAT, may you NPC in peace bro.

Side note: forgot to add the notes from the hiatus chapter

mostly just how the tapes work...
    here's the TL;DR

    how the tapes work
    0. there is only one cassette player per round. it also changes position every round (WITH AN EXCEPTION)
    1. you can only SAVE after the killer shows up
    2. you SAVE by finding the cassette player and slapping a tape in.
    3. running the cassette player SAVES ALL AREA DATA during the round it was played. this does not reset/erase any progress (and tapes) for completed areas.
    4. you KEEP YOUR MEMORIES if you PLAY THE TAPE in the cassette player before you die

    (3) is important to SAVE game spots that you'd likely die in, but don't want to repeat progress

anyways, now for the real kicker i forgot to notice:

"If a cassette player contains the SAVE of someone who has completed all rounds, the cassette player's position will not change. It can be moved or EVEN REMOVED from the map."

only ppl we've seen able to move the cassette players are Doha and Bada. so...what the heck are these ROUNDS?
plus, since REMOVING cassette players and tapes are possible, this is likely why Jaeseob's tapes can't be found. Jaeseob was probs the first to quit, and therefore the most thorough in getting rid of all his SAVE DATA from sheer depression from dying.

I’m pretty sure in an earlier chapter it confirms that the check marks are Seongchan’s tapes (but I don’t recall what chapter it was so many plot twists ago dang)

I'm leaving the option open that Doha might've also ticked one of his older tapes to look like it's Seongchan, esp since we know Seong and Doha used to work together.
