I have the same feeling. I think his curse went berserk and somehow directly or indirectly caused the death of his parents. And the grandfather aka the Emperor, might have kept it a secret and put the blame on himself, that's what I thought too. Could be wrong but hopefully it's not really Ian that killed his parents. Usually manhwa like this dont go that dark haha
