I get that its palace politics and stuff, but the emphasis is never on why these women choose to antagonize the protagonist or on the men in their lives influencing them, its just on the women being shitty seemingly from birth. Which is not to say women can't just be shitty people on their own, but when every evil person so far is just a shitty woman who wants power it feels wrong. If there are evil men plotting, I want the manga to show me that, not have it just implied. Give me evil men or at least diversify the reason these women act the ways they do
But it iiiiiiis, though. Like, you can write it like this or like in apothecary diaries. The difference is wether you write the women as people or not.
Women in these settings are suppressed and constantly told that marriage is everything! So it makes sense why they are obsessed with the emperor because of the illusion of power being freedom.
