Right???? I know they need to portray it as drugs are bad and fck u up but... the way it was drawn... it took away all fckin charisma of the character. Like... woojin stole the show in that movie to the point people started going to the cinema to watch it because of him... because there was a contrast between how charismatic he was when he first appeared and him going insane and dieing... and honestly it was all lost...
I started with the comic went to the novel and keep reading the comic but... they are making and awfully bad job. There's no balance between the seriousness/charm of when he is acting and the comedic side of when he is not with his outward coldness/indifference and energetic inner thoughts.
It's not just the druggie character... the work as a whole is getting messed up because the art doesn't seem serious even in serious moments. I know it's adaptation and all but... it's very disappointing. And I agree completely with you... wtf is that weird patterned shirt? And ffs... even the tattoos look like a kids scribble most of the time! I get the kr hate jp and tend to over stereotype and make fun of them in most comics... but dang... he'll be the main character in a jp movie and even do voice acting in anime in the future... so I'm really fearing for the future of the comic. Even more so cuz his character in the jp movie and as the soldier are not comedic at all...
I'll try to keep reading the comic but... I feel I'll end up dropping it soon because of that...
Sweetheart... I'm not gonna lie to you... I have about a 100 tabs of novels and comics lined up too... but fr... go read it.
I'll just leave here that the reason they mistake him for a genius is not only because of his acting... but because he is THAT GOOD LOOKING... and while comic Woojin is not ugly... the chibi and comedic effects they put on with exagerated and ugly expressions... kill his good looks...
Lil spoiler: it's to the point he was actually really popular with women in college and at work but he just never knew/noticed... like... he's supposed to look good no matter what he wears and that's why his agent lets him go around in a hoodie (for now)... but in the comic he looks just... like a college student too tired to care... (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
This one, A tidal wave of glory, debut or die and trash of the count's house are MUST read novels. The comic gives you an idea about their looks but the novel is better...
My imagination is ruined cause I imagine Woojin would wear a majestic high-end black suit (CEO's code) in drug dealer with rolled-up sleeves looking so sexy while high on drugs but why bro looks like a street thug with that kind of outfit?!
