I think most people who are confused are ones who read the novel cause this didn't happen at all. It's a extra at the end. It feels like it's there to satisfy readers i guess? I really dont mind it but I do think it's kinda poorly timed. However im glad that they were able to at least tie it into the story. In any case nothing will probably happen again till the end. Good smut is well thought out in my opinion. But readers are each to their own id they want to read porn without plot that's fine and of they enjoyed it that's good. In this case it's mostly just a "this didn't happen before and seems out of place a bit?" for novel readers. it's not bad but it's just a lil confusing.

i didnt read the novel it’s just really poorly implemented and such a drastic tonal shift. they havent even made any progress with their relationship and all of a sudden they’re fucking in a dream? MAYBE it could work if it was a vague one sided vision of the future or even drawn more passionately, but it’s just full blown porn for the readers who can’t handle a long stretch of plot or slow burn.

I think you should then. I'm not gonna shoot at people who just wanna read smut cause I just can't care enough. The only thing I care about is if this story is represented correctly. If the random smut becomes a constant yes I will be annoyed as that was never the novels orginal focus. I'm not a huge fan of the random placement of smut but they tied it into the story so I'm not gonna be mad about it. I know why they probably put it there. As long as it doesn't become consistent I'm not gonna care. I do agree with I wish it was more toned down as this originally was a slow burn and I like slow burns. If people want smut there plenty of stories out there. And there will always be the side stories that will be adapted at the end.

To be fair, the novel didn't have the dream plot here. MC be dropping more clues then he did in the novel. I'm curious to see how these changes go
