Toxic yuris are basically a dime in a dozen. To the point that some people would even equate yuri to toxic. But damn. I love this manhwa as much as the first time I've read it—if not more. It's interesting, no? How could we be so captivated in something so.. wrong? Or something that makes us question if this is even right or wrong. Everyone in this manhwa is broken inside. The only difference is how they live with it. I relate more to Doyeon since we have similar personalities. At one point in life, you do realize how apathetic you are. So you try to act warm to hide it. You get so scared of being alone, being caught that you're different. So you just put on this facade. And then one moment you realized that you've been calculating what emotions you'd show to others. So what made Jinjoo different? In the most basic sense, she was "pathetic". And Doyeon's god complex strikes. Doyeon wanted Jinjoo because the pathetic woman needed her. And you won't be abandoned by someone who needs you. At the same time I also understand Jinjoo's trauma. You never knew how to stand up for yourself so you became dependent. Dependent on her husband and dependent on her faith. She lost so much of herself from dependence that she doesn't know anymore how to live without it. Even until the moment she realized what she's been doing, she knew the same thing would happen with Doyeon. Even if she was portrayed to be helpless, it wasn't her decision. No one wants to be in that situation. But that's her reality. And the first time she thought that she was making a difference, (by stopping herself from depending on Doyeon any more) she didn't realize that she's just doing the same thing again.
