That's the dumbest decision you could have ever made
Bro could have chosen to be happy, find a perfect partner, money, idk anything. But to be in a novel you don't know anything about??? Really???

well first of all he won a wish bc of her sister so it's normal to use that wish to remember her. he did ask to return his sister but since it can't be done...
so i dont think it's absurd especially if he's really close to her

beside he might have already had enough money and job and not interested in romance. also that's just selfish to use that wish for only himself

To be honest he could remember her without being in her novel, he could just put her picture in his wallet or something. I think it's just the author wanting to get our mc in a bl novel but don't want to do it in a classic way

A photo wouldn't be enough. I personally have lost a sister myself. And if she made a novel, and i was put into this same scenario, I'd do the same. I wanna be a part of her creation. Understand her more than what i saw on the surface. Just a personal opinion.

I'm sorry for your lost, but I guess I really can't put myself in your shoes

To be honest now that I think about it it could be more believable if the story telling was better, like if they drew how the mc is miserable without his sister, or something like that.

that's one way to do it. they also can embellish that the novel was very important to his sister, and how it's not enough to just read the novel irl without living in it
that way more readers will understand where it came from.

however i think some stories will not write gloomy details to make the story lighter if that's the vibe they tried to which i think they did
so readers will only have good and exciting memory while reading
