Look I've been through abuse of all kinds, but if I keep trying to hold everyone accountable to the highest degree it just hurts me, revenge isn't always sweet when the person is already insane to begin with, in the end they just end up enjoying your desperation and say you've sunk to their level , you end up just as miserable. It's better to let them grovel in the mud for your attention then to sink to their level and do just that.
