This is going to be long but yeah, it is rape between ML and MC. The ML is not a good person, and he has never pretended to be. But he really is trying to be good to the MC, but the MC is not mentally well. The ML keeps trying to help him, but unfortunately, the MC is a bit self-destructive, which worries the ML a lot. The MC became an alcoholic because it was the only thing that could calm his pain and stop him from throwing up blood, but he wasn't supposed to drink anymore due to the medication for his mental issues, and because he promised the ML that he wouldn't and that he would treasure himself more. But he did, and when the ML found out, it made him snap because he was trying so hard to help the MC while the MC wasn't taking any of it seriously. Immediately after it, the ML felt so guilty and kept apologising and sort of punishing himself, but the MC kept trying to brush it off saying it was fine. The ML here was golden because he firmly told the MC that it was NOT okay, what he did was awful and the MC was just brushing it off because it was his coping mechanism as well as further proof that he didn't care for his own well being. He told the MC that if he didn't admit that this wasn't okay and dealt with this now, it would become a trauma for him later on. And that was the only time the rape ever happened. Usually, during most of the story, it's the ML who keeps pushing off s*x because he is worried about the MCs' mental and physical health.

I agree, I was grossed out by it and honestly stopped for a bit to rage out at the author because I felt it was unnecessary. But the way ML handled it afterwards is what made me keep reading because if he had blamed MC or excused it I would have dropped it. But he didn't and took full accountability. Honestly, this ML is actually a pretty green despite not being a good person, but we do see him keep trying to better himself and do better for the MC. This novel heavily focuses on the psychological factor of transmigrating. How the guilt and sudden memories of 2 people could impact you. The MC isn't sure of what his real memories are, if he was transmigrated or just went insane, and he has such immense guilt of taking the originals place and also for abandoning his younger sister. The ML is really the only one trying to actively help him through this when everyone else is trying to ignore it and wish for things to just go back to normal.

Most of the people in the real world died, there was an earthquake, i think, and the building collapsed and killed most of them. But the MC didn't die. He was trapped underneath there with all the dead bodies, which is why he has such bad health every time he tries to remember the real world. He is sort of stuck between life and death, but he never does go back, and it's sort of assumed that his real body eventually dies. The story that he read is just a story that his sister and her friend wrote (huge assholes btw but that's another thing), so when he transmigrated here things changed since he's not the same as the novel character and neither is the ML since he's the sunbae. And as for the original 2 protagonist, he befriends Jimin, and the other guy gets sent to jail.

Yeah, they both did but the ML doesn't remember until later. Some others did too, and they all remember but don't want to tell the MC and hope he forgets for selfish reasons. So, there are no side couples because that other guy is the antagonist (he doesn't play a huge role) but even in the original novel he was such an asshole that the MC hated both the novel and him, So, he does illegal things and goes to jail by the ML. And yes, the sister died in that collapsed building too.

Important spoiler!!
There is a total of 5 people who have transmigrated. His sister and her friend who wrote the book transmigrated and ended up in the book world while they were children. So they have had their memories for a long time. His sister is his younger brother, and he/she is very hateful, actually. The MC and his sister have a complicated relationship. Their parents abused them, but in different ways. Him physically and her more mentally. Their parents were also very strict about the way she sits, talks, and so on, and the MC would also remind her of these because in his mind, it would protect her from their abuse. But she saw it as him being abusive as well. She would keep mentioning that he sounds like their parents and that he would grow up to become like them. Though it was just the Mcs way to survive by listening to their parents, so when the MC met his sunbae it was only then that he would start to go against their parents' rules. The MC doesn't really have a lot of affection for "family" and is fine abandoning them all for the ML. But the sister wants a "perfect and affectionate" family, which is why she hates the ML, and it's also why she and her friend wrote the book. It was to vent and that's why the MC has such an awful ending, because she didn't want him to end up with the ML and even "punished" him in the book by having him being used and abandoned by the ML and later committing suicide. So when she transmigrated, she was overjoyed because she got the family she always wanted and didn't want her brother to remember or to fall in love with the ML. This is why he has problems with his memory, because the author of the story doesn't want him to remember. One of his friends transmigrated about the same time the MC did, but he doesn't want the MC to remember either because he and his mom killed off his abusive father in this world, and he was afraid that the MC would know if he remembered the original world. The ML has transmigrated but doesn't remember until almost the very end.

Ahhhh so what happens to the sister at the end. Does she get punished? Authors rarely do. Does she get redemption ? Does the health of the MC finally get better?
Thank you for the spoilers, I think I would rather let this marinate to get the full story perspective than wait for the occasional updates now. You saved me.

Yeah, his health does get better in the end. His sister didn't know that she was the reason, and when they argued and she found out it stopped. She doesn't really get punished or redemption, but it's left more open. Once the MC finds out, he says that he doesn't want to forgive her. She is failing high school and has to retake a year by the end of the story, and since the MC doesn't want to forgive her he just blocks her and says that until she graduates he won't speak to her or see her. So I presume that maybe in the future, their relationship can get better, but it won't be a loving family relationship that she wants. Honestly, she kept saying in the real world that he was being abusive, but she was the one being abusive. She was trying to control him and guilttrip him, and being very selfish. And when they came to the novel world, it just got worse. Her friend rightfully calls her out and says that she has gotten a god complex and it needs to stop, which it does at the end. But yeah, this story is much better read once you have let it marinate for a while.
One of my favourite novels!!! Seriously this one is really good. It's a long novel so there's still a long way to go and it would be better to stock up on the chapters
