Cuz the translations nowadays are so boring or just really bad
It's a different translation, the one officially made. It translates it to Octo because it's meant for English speakers and not all English speakers will know what Tako means. It's that simple. I don't get why people are freaking out about it. If it's that upsetting the fan-made translation is still available for the same chapters.

When I said people I obviously didn't mean you or I would've said that. If you scroll comments you'll see so many people unreasonably upset about it. That's what I'm confused about. I thought I'd give an explanation here and express my confusion while I'm at it. I won't comment under those people's posts cause they don't sound reasonable.
Why did they change it to Octo tho? Its cuter him being called Tako
