Hmm that does sound confusing and I'm not really sure. I don't think it finished the novel but while i was reading it, I don't remember ever getting the impression that they were two different people. Like I got the impression sol and Peep were the same person. It's been awhile since I read it though...

are sol and peep the same person?
originally it was yoo sol that reincarnated into a bird when he pressed the button and very clearly for the duration of him being a bird, it was definitely the reincarnation of yoo sol as a bird. but then we got that flashback of when yoo sol.. met the bird?
and then the bird said "when I met that kid" and "western style door"
the kid was obviously yoo sol as a highschooler and the fact that the bird said "western style door" would imply the fact that he's originally from the same place as yoo sol, aka earth. Also, it just seems like the bird and the avian are just two different people entirely? Different personalities, different reactions, different motivations. He clearly has memory of being a bird, but he reacted strangely when karhan called him 'sol'. He was like "oh yeah I told him to call me my real name."
But then also clearly both the bird and the avian are from earth because they lack mana.
I'm just confused ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
