Lol agree on all fronts but ESPECIALLY on How to Reject My Obsessive Ex-Husband, what a let down but thats literally all those ones with a regretful ML premise, the FL folds so fast. This one to me, while not perfect, is almost the penultimate regretful ML. The start is especially great and Elijah stood on business pretty well comparably. I was also kinda disappointed by the reconciliation BUT I give back points for
1) She left him to wallow and be miserable for YEARS
2) We see a lot of his scenes showing regret whereas a lot of MLs just catch the FL years later and look crazy or haggard but we dont rly see them like pulling their hair out in their office etc
3) He did suffer a lot and never burdened Elijah with it
4) Like you said he wasnt the worst. He was neglectful and cold but he wasnt unfaithful or violent. He wasnt even a particularly bad person.. he acts more like what would get someone divorced irl compared to the actual abusive.
I always re read this one when I wanna see a ML grovel lmao I dont think he needs to pour out his every thought for us to know he hates himself for taking her for granted
I agree to all of the points. I also loved to see the glimpses of him back in the empire and being miserable from regret.
So I’m very surprised that this manhwa has such low rating when there are manhwas with basic plots and worse ML’s out there :(
Exactly…. Compared to other regret stories where MLs are playing anytime and FLs just fold after everything that went through…But this one doesn’t irritate me as much…. FL is not dumb that is a big plus for me….
I’m not saying that this manhwa is a 10/10. This manhwa is not perfect, but it definitely doesn’t deserve a rating below 9. Maybe a solid 9.0 or 9.1.
I liked the plot, because it didn’t side track anywhere. From the beginning it posed a problem and the whole manhwa is slowly solving that problem. Yes, there are some plot holes or stuff that author just decided to add and not elaborate further, but it was still good.
Main character, Elijah, is amazing. I loved the character development from a girl that just lived for one man to an independent woman that gained self-respect and confidence. She knows her worth and was not making it easy for Raymond to just enter her life again after all the shitty things he did. Unlike some characters… *cough cough* Seohyeon from “ How To Reject My Obsessive Ex-Husband” *cough cough*
The regret in this manhwa was good and I loved that it took a long time for Elijah to forgive Raymond (ML). However, yes, the chasing and actual earning of forgiveness was done poorly. I didn’t like that Raymond never directly apologised or acknowledged all the things he has done wrong with Elijah. He just passively hanged around her until she forgave him, which was… meh… However! Raymond didn’t do anything insane to Elijah for me to hate it. I’m not in any way defending him, by the way. He was still a shitty friend and husband that made Elijah feel miserable. However, his actions were enough for readers to dislike him, but not outright hate him. There are manhwas where ML just straight up r*pe and abuse MCs, but then get forgiven more quickly than Raymond did, so yeah. Could be better, but it wasn’t awful and rage inducing.
In other words, the author had the perfect formula for regret trope: just enough trashy ML that wasn’t actually disgusting and amazing main character who stands on business. But still, somehow, fumbled THE perfect setup for regret and chasing.
This manhwa has its hit and miss moments, but I refuse to think that this manhwa is worse than most of the regret trope manhwas that actually have diabolical MLs and boring plots, but somehow have a high rating.
