I think it's just a JP BL kinda thing. They still make BLs where they're big on purity so you'll have the "I'm actually straight and like women but for you I'll make an exception"
I think it's cuz they think "I cherish him and I'm not with him just for sex", so they then avoid sex....pretty dumb and a reoccurring theme
I really what to know why always when they (tops in bl, mostly) talk about "cherish your partner" they immediately think of a "No More Sex" rule, just WHY!!?????? －.－)
Cherish your partner have nothing to do with not having sex and everything to do with having sex and a lot more; because I'll feel extremely awful if my partner didn't want to have sex with me anymore when previously we enjoy it and he was so willing to do it and now he actively is avoiding it
