(spoiler warning) at first i didnt understand why the ratings for this novel was so low. i loved how it took a realistic approach to toxic relationships compared to other bl comics and didn't glamorise abuse or SA but i couldnt make myself read the last few chapters because of how much i wanted to jump off a cliff. the fact that he chalked up literal years of abuse and actual SA to "horrible miscommunication" and how everyone around him encouraged him to get back together as if the mc was the unreasonable one. i mean when he explained his reason for giving him a second chance as partly because he felt guilty that the other guy was self abusing himself and also because he just feels like their cursed to be together and the mom replies with "thats wonderful" ??? hello the way my jaw dropped, to be honest i was so excited for him to finally break up with him but then a few chapters turned into fifty and i feel like i wasted my time. i know not every novel has to end with a happy ending but i hate how it is painted as a happy ending when it clearly was still coercion and a lack of trust in the end. everyone one around that ml is also crazy (by that i mean they only have the ml's intrest in mind like no matter how the author paints them as "good" people in the end they knew the extent of the ml's abuse to the mc yet still kept dragging him back in the end when they said that the ml was their only son it just solidified it for me) including his assistant, his mom and obviously his dad. also can we talk about how the ml actually ruined the mc's entire life like not just emotionally he made him not only loose his jobs (and he wasn't even that sorry, like there was one panel of him feeling some type of minuscule guilt and in the end tried to make himself look like he was the one who saved him) also he forcefully made the mc come out to the whole nation on live television (and mind u this was supposed to be romantic) but now everyone has access to his information and he can never get a semblance of a normal life/ job/ relationship anymore since it was on the fucking news?? and people will just know him as that. if anyone actually read this long ass rant please spoil the ending for me because i dont think i can go through 12 more chapters of them being romantic and falling in love after all that bs (like even the author knew they would never get together if the ml wasnt hospitalised and self-abused himself).
