It’s ironic that readers think Carcel would find a man beautiful when Carcel cannot stand that kind of thing because he was harassed by men of all ages all his life along with women. He received letters from both men and women. Also, in the novel, Ines said Emiliano was more beautiful than a woman so perhaps he was more beautiful than her but not in Carcel’s eyes. Ines also states that Carcel’s face is more handsome than Emiliano, for the record.
In ch 45 and season 1 finale, at the navy admiral banquet, it was abundantly clear Carcel hates the insinuation of any kind of attraction connotation regarding a man. So manhwa had it as well. I do think the OP’s comment is in a light-hearted spirit. Canonically though, Carcel hates this kind of thing. Just imagine the harassment he got from the advances of all kinds of men besides women.
I can see the point regarding ch 45 but it can also be interpreted as him just being grossed out about it in general since it was coming from his wife who he did like at this point. Also personally, since i didn't know about the harassment stuff from novel, it felt like he exaggerated the reaction very much so i do wish his backstory was mentioned earlier.
Regardless, thank you for sharing the information, i just felt the need to point it out since it seemed like you were a bit angry about the original comment, My apologies. As just the manhwa reader, there are times when the readers can just interpret the scenes incorrectly.
That original comment has been here for a while so I wasn’t angry about it. Someone else responded and that’s when I realize readers don’t seem to understand that Carcel hates this kind of thing. It’s kind of weird that readers here didn’t pick up on his dislike of it because in season 1, I saw manhwa readers accuse Carcel of not being ‘woke’ if you get what I mean and viewing the advances or attraction of men that way. That’s when novel readers came out and told manhwa readers that Ines is even less ‘woke’ about this very kind of thing.
I was aware that the reaction by Carcel was pretty normal to a man possibly liking him (although a bit exaggerated with the jacket throw but that is understandable now with the harassment he's received) but i too must've not fully grasped the emotion I'd say, since i was too used to reading modern stuff and lgbtq themed works that reading historical works and seeing this stuff feels a bit odd.
I think it's similar to the other readers too who aren't really used to the historical era themed stories. What's normal for them is definitely gonna be odd for us now haha. Again, appreciate you talking about it.
WHY WHAT IS IT??? DID HE SEEM FAMILIAR OR IS HE TOO BEAUTIFUL??? WHAT IS IT ESCALANTE???
