I agree and get what you’re saying but the first emperor literally killed everyone she loved and every other mage and she’s gonna die soon anyway her magic is almost up and she’s like 500 years old. She just wants an apology so she can rest peacefully she already knows she a horrible person and what she’s done but she’s too far gone and broken bc of the betrayal she faced bc of love.
But that is exactly why she deserves no apology from those alive today - people she also hurt and has no intention to apologise herself.
She did things for the king aware of the repercussions.
The past king killed innocent people because he was a horrible person. She killed innocent people because she is a horrible person. The background of why and how doesn't matter when people died because of them.
It's like excusing a psychopathic killer for their murders because of their parents' abuse, and then asking some far removed cousins to apologise for the abuse they had no awareness or involvement in. There might be a reason, but it's not an excuse.
the princess never said she forgave her and she mentioned how anita did awful things to people, maybe even worse then the emperor, but she didn’t deserve to have all of her people killed and then have their history be replaced as monsters. i think your way of thinking is very black and white, no one is excusing her actions and what she did was awful, the apology dosent take away from her wrongdoings it’s simply letting her rest in peace cause she’s literally going to die. plus the first king did heinous shit, he should also be held accountable but that can’t happen now, so now the princess has to do what her predecessor couldn’t.
also your analogy is shit, no one’s excusing her behavior. anita’s backstory is reasoning, not an excuse. it gave us reason why she acted like that, we know why she acted like that, but her behavior is not excused. also the princess onky forgave her cause she saw herself in her, she literally said that. they’re parallels of each other. both focused on revenge and getting back at those who hurt them, she LITERALLY said the only reason she’s apologizing is because the witch ladies or whatever wanted her also to find peace.
specifically talking about this panel https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/second_life_of_a_trash_princess/uu/mk_chapter-90/pg-8/
LOL but why would the Princess have to apologise for wrongdoings of someone she doesn't know, when Anita is not planning to apologise for her own wrogndoings?
Anita who was an adult and knew what consequences of her actions might be back then and now. She was fooled by the past king, and there's no doubt he was a horrid person on every possible account, but it does not excuse her being a mass murderer herself.
In all that you said, I read absolutely nothing about why the Princess should apologise to Anita. In their relationship it's the former who's the victim. You said I see it all in black and white? You couldn't be more wrong, but this very situation is definitely not grey. If it was the past king standing in front of Anita, I'd say she should take his head, if it was his son, then I would say he should apologise perhaps. But some great great great x100 grandaughter who experienced so much bad from her? Nope.
As for my example - well I should have said sociopath perhaps as they're made not born. Otherwise it's a fairly good example and if you're not seeing similarity between the situations... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Also to clarify - I do think there are people who should be apologiesed to.
The dead witches - the royal family should issue an apology for the wrongoing of their ancestor towar them - even if they're all dead, and for the spread of misinformation across the centuries. They should also fix their records to ensure correct history is being taught. Anita should also apologise to them but I think she already did in her own way, granted so did the Princess.
Anita's victims and their families - Anita should apologise to them all in some way. Doesn't matter if she's dying, those people deserve apology (those who were killed in this timeline at least).
did we read the same chapter? she literally told anita to apologize as well? like literally right here. https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/second_life_of_a_trash_princess/uu/mk_chapter-90/pg-8/
the princess doesn’t have to apologize to anita, she chose to, to right a wrong her ancestors did. nobody is being forced to do anything, the princess saw the injustice that happened and decided to make a change. if you wouldn’t apologize in this scenario that’s okay, but the princess did and it literally makes sense for her character. she was originally going to kill anita, but she saw herself in her and the previous witches wanted her to feel empathy for anita. as she said, an apology is a must, forgiveness is a choice.
anita is an adult, but she still didn’t deserve what happened to her. because she’s an adult, she’s going to take accountability for what she did, and if she doesn’t she’s going to die. like i’m starting to think we didn’t read the same chapter they literally said she did horrible things and will have to pay for what she did.
and WHY do you keep saying that her actions are being excused because of her trauma. literally nobody is arguing that. AT ALL. as i said before, her trauma is a reason, not an excuse. an excuse would be “anita has trauma with the emperors bloodline so she should be let off for the crimes she did to innocent people because she was hurting inside.” reasoning is “anita has had awful things done to her and because of that, she’s done awful things to people. she didn’t deserve to have that happen to her but she still must pay for what she did.”
and i said that you see in black and white because anita isn’t a black and white villian. she’s the last remaining witch who had all her people killed and was betrayed by the person she loved. she had her entire history rewritten all because she loved. the term witch was even created to dehumanize female mages. BUT she is also someone who did heinous shit and should pay, both things can be true at the same time. the princess has enough empathy to understand that she went through things that shouldn’t have happened but also realizes that she must pay for what happened. both can be true. it’s not simply black and white.
the link loaded wrong, it’s page 9 not page 8 https://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/second_life_of_a_trash_princess/uu/mk_chapter-90/pg-9/
How about Anita apologize for killing many innocent people - during past king's reign, in Regina's past incarnation, and now?
Oh but we won't even think of that because she's the "victim". Right. Noted.
I would not even ask her what she wants at this point. The time for that has well passed - she could have easily started with that demand before killing people. Now she deserves to rot in the ground.
