To be fair it happens a lot in real.life as well. I kinda get it. If you want thw child but you don't think the other part does or you don't want to be tied to them.
I haven't seen their backstory but I can actually understand it in this one. Seme doesn't recognize him, the marking and conceiving was an accident, and the seme is an asshole who is willing to kill even the uke.
It happens to me tho. I got pregnant because of an accident, and the father doesn’t know about it because I don’t want to get tied down or tie him down either. He doesn’t love me, nor did I love him. So i just selfishly hide the existence of the child I’m contented with it.

Looking at chase's family background, i dont think his family will let pete be, coz he was born from a mistake and can be used as a weakness so they might just finish him off without chase even knowing. Josh knows associating with him will only put pete in danger so yeah
