I had the same thought. Using "Pumpkin" and "Asparagus" as insult is so amusing.
In Thailand, people used animals to insult each other like if someone called you a "water buffalo", it means you're dumb and "sparrow" means you're dull or nothing special. I was called "dried shrimp" because I was hella skinny compared to other kids that you can see my ribs.
Well, I think most insults usually used animals. But sometimes I think it insulting to those animals tho, lol.
"This PUMPKIN!"
"You as dumb as asparagus."
These children hate vegetables so much they get insulted as one, lol
