Great character in terms of writing ≠ not a good character as in a good person

We can all agree he's a morally grey character. There has definitely been some miscommunication

I don't like the notion that just because this is in the bl genre it suddenly isn't allowed to have any essence or significance. I won't pretend like he's the most developed character in all of literature, as we are literally only 10 chapters in and I am about to start reading the novel soon.

I don't believe I even called him complex in my original comments. I was just stating how I enjoyed his raw personality, one that most people see as ugly even though they themselves are, in truth just another version of him to some extent. However I will say humans are complex by nature, even if that 'complexity' is really just that of an average person in which he is designed after. We shouldn't strip the author of their design just because of the genre they are written in. (I mean, fanfiction literally exist and some of it has better writing capabilities than some authors under official labels could ever) lol

Also yes, we are not paying much attention to his thoughts because they remain as just that, thoughts. Whether or not it's good or bad the only person it impact as of now is only himself.

No, I’m not stripping the author of its design, but quite frankly this is not a good novel at all where we need to argue over a character so bland as mc. “Thoughts are just thoughts” sorry that doesn’t make a character. He does some other action and is thinking of something else even if that action is selfless doesn’t really AT ALL exclude the fact that his personality really isn’t the best.

I think you really seem to lack to understand that people have opinions and view things differently and I view the character to be bland and not very likeable.

A human is complex in nature, is something I’ve read in biology, but if you say so, I don’t know if anything about mc is “complex” or “raw”. I don’t see it, I can name 10 books where the mc is actually raw, and has selfish thoughts but not blatantly black and white thoughts.

There is nothing RAW completely about it.
It’s simply not the best novel I would say.
I would have preferred if acted according to his thoughts OR had some sort of mixed actions, that would be more RAW in your case. It would be more human.
Because logically, if we were to put someone in his shoes, they WILL step away from everything. They WILL NOT react like mc.

That's fine, I didn't know you have read the novel also (at least I assume you did). I am currently reading it and the reviews, many novel readers in the comments said that the character's do have some complexity to them and I think that it is true to some degree. About as complex as an average teenager can be tbh. I think we're just used to seeing manhwa's with similar troupes like this where they love to show but not really tell (and do a very bad job at it at that) but with novels it's quite the opposite since you have to get your readers to want to engage

In the manhwa at least, we are starting to see the person who appears apathetic start to crumble in his own facade a bit and feel what seems to be a bit, remorseful? It is said that he's also an unreliable narrator in his own story telling. I can't really change your opinion so you are right to feel that way if that's how you feel. Maybe I will also change my mind after I get to the ending

*With the last sentence I kind of agree but at the same time sometimes people can be willingly illogical especially due to emotions and biases so I can't even say that it's out of left field (esp because this is fiction)

It really depends whether or not any of us will change our views but I seem to be more rigid because I really in general do not like these characters at all

I did not read the novel but someone spoiled it and told me every character is twisted
And yohan is also going to act trashy
So I really want to drop it

I don’t just want character development I want to see a good plot
