I’m pretty sure things like this are discussed with author and publisher
I was reading a translated novel once (forgot the name of it). At the end of the last chapter the translator said that they didn't like the ending of the original version that the author wrote. So the translator rewrote it more to their liking.
I was pissed! A translator should not take such liberties. If they think they can do a better job, stop translating and write your own original stories - from start to finish.
And now I'll never know at which point it sopped being the authors work and the usurper took over.
I'm obviously still miffed enough to dump this all here. And it's been years since it happened.
you are so correct to be angry, woooow. that is just majorly disrespectful to the original creator. they could've at least finished translating then made their own version/fanfiction. its so unfair to readers who can't understand the original language
Pretty wild that according to other spoilers, the novel ended with no ML cause the author wanted it neutral. But the artist who adapted the manhwa wanted a ML and chose the ML based off which guy was their favorite. Ngl if I were the author I’d be irritated af the artist decided to just choose what they wanted lmaoo
