I don't know either about this one. Some say it's a well written plot despite the toxicity, for others it's not better than other rapey titles... Since I don't feel reading it, it's hard to give a fair opinion on this, sorry...

Though, I doubt some of these works deserve the titles of 'psychological thriller bls', as they're for the most not well written enough. Btw there's no romance so where's the bl in there?
Characterisation and motives of the characters are badly described or are totally absent, the focus is to showcase degrading porn in all aspects. There's no real justification to the rape, torture and brutality displayed in there.
The universe these characters evolute is also unrealistic ; social interactions are not credible and there's no retributions nor regrets of any sort for the crimes committed in these stories. Works like No Reason, The Bad Life, Reverse Thinking, Yian's Binding... are sadly, sad exhibition of trash porn. Yes, their contents is questionable, questionable as there's no real point in these aside showing gruesome porn. Despite this, some authors will feel entitled to produce such stories as long as they find an audience.
We're certainly witnessing a 'shift' of the bl genre into something even more violent.

You see, I agree that fictions like this are indeed toxic and harmful for the human's mind bc readers who like to read these stories will be numb and desensitivized to violent contents, therefore to violence in the long run. They'll develop brain rot. Porn is invasive for the mind, and brutal porn even more.
The risks to be numb to fictional violence is the same as for any other addictions: seeking even more violents and since it's yaoi, morbid rape porn etc. Did you see that in The Bad Life and lastly, Reverse Thinking, the authors wanted to introduce paraphilic sexuality (bestiality) in these stories? Yes, they added it in the novel, and if not for the protests of Korean readers, people here may see a dog do the thing with the mc. This is crazy, and it's normal to question the mental health of authors in this case.
The risks for readers is also to develop a lack of empathy when they see bullying, abuse or injustice and not assist the victims of mistreatments. Thoug I don't think they'll go as far as becoming rapist themselves ; let's not forget that most yaoi readers are girls/women.

These people may become twisted and messed up, capable of defending rapists and offenders when they shouldn't

Tbh I really don't know about that but yeah violent porn contents like this tend to desensitivize readers and suppress empathy in them if they ever had any.
By the same way, maybe it's easier for a psychopath to manipulate these people?

I believe many women have a disturbing attraction to men who prove themselves to be harmful to women (criminals, serial killers who target women...) ; this is morbid fascination.
Some readers claim themselves to have been victims of SA, rape, and reading rape stories as a way to cope with their traumas, though that's just weird to me.
If you're really a rape survivor, you can certainly read rape plots, but you'll choose to read those that make sense, and not the kind like No Reason or Reverse Thinking that are simply exhibition of nonsensical trash porn.
Anyhow, people will - in my opinion, give all kinds of excuses to read their porn. In the end, that's their problem if they want to have brain rot.

The problem for us as readers who want to read Boys Love, is to find more and more contents like this that are extrem in term of violence and sexual abuse while offering no romance, no real context/motives, justifications to such cruel behaviors, no retribution, resilience nor evasion for the spirit...
