The few novels I've read a few chapters into to compare with manhwas, the adaptations do tend to cut out a lot from the og text, though it's not as obvious most of the time imo.
Sadly though, adaptations that are truly faithful to the original and adapt p much everything get called boring (cough, I' not the villain's lover. It even got axed despite there still being plenty left of the story ). They are different mediums with different ways of working things, so things are bound to change to fit the adaptations.
Not to say I disagree with your comment - while I haven't noticed it with this story like you mention it (probably since I've only read it as it updated and haven't gone back to reread anything), those are valid criticisms I agree with. There are definitely adaptations that do a shitty job, and adaptatipns that do a great job. It just sucks when one party seemingly decides what is important to the story and characters without consulting another (like the og author).
True, many things I compared show that it's usually well picked what they leave out, so that the flow of the adaptation isn't clanky.
Yeah, people nowadays have an absolute shit attention span tbh. They cannot and will not bother reading something that doesn't immediately have the conclusion wave from the nearby horizon. (Skip Beat is one such comic; the author made absolutely clear in the first 2 chapters that love/romance is NOT the focus, yet people complain about MC not getting over her trauma within a few months time and falling in love with an even bigger traumatized man. XD)
I don't mind leaving out stuff if it doesn't interrupt the flow or isn't as important, but many stories that are adapted as comics seem to be edited by people who do not know what is and isn't interrupting the flow or is important to have included in the comic. And I'm not quite sure why people do that so often. Especially with novel adaptations; they should put in as much effort as they can to avoid sullying the reputation of the original. Because many people aren't aware a comic to a novel is NOT the same quality as the novel it's based on. And some might not want to read the novel because they think it also sucks. ╥﹏╥

I gotta say i noticed too that reading update by update can make pacing or flow issues basically vanish. That's why i try to read in one go or multiple longer ones, so I get a sense of the flow and issues like missing info.
And now that you mention it: People should definitely try and ask the original authors to proof read the comic scripts. Or at least very big fans of the work who can pick out any issues. That could definitely help avoid some problems in a comic adaptation. Very good point!
The plot of this is grand and promising, but the execution of the comic is lackluster at best. (I asume this is based on a novel, so keep that in mind.)
There are very obviously things left out that are important to explain (like some names or creatures that randomly pop up and we are supposed to just say 'ah, ok' to that, all while barely needed flashbacks of character pasts are made a huge, detailed deal).
Many times it feels like the comic gets side tracked and pays attention to the wrong things. Or just skips scenes that seem to be important to have in here. I assume the original work has them included, like the strange childrens gift from Winter, the reaction of the MC after reuniting was MUCH too special for the gift to be just left out/not revealed.
Don't get me wrong, the base plot is incredibly interesting and has incredible potential, doing away with many cliches and mistakes, but it bothers me extremely that every other chapter the immersion is broken because another random skip, leaving something out or just a surprise random info snippet gets slapped into my face and nobody really cares to integrate it/introduce it into the story as if it was always a part of it. The way it's done here feels more like the author had a random moment and slapped something in there. Which I do NOT think the original script reads like.
There are TOO many instances, even in just the 27 chapters I have read so far, that give the feeling of half the info you SHOULD have when reading the original script, are simply left out because of likely the classic reason: The comic adaptors didn't deem it important enough. Which is THE biggest issue with comic adaptations no doubt.
It's not up to you as the adaptation team to deem what's necessary, especially if you definitely have no passion to convey the original plot as detailed as it likely is. If the writer included it, the comic should as well. Don't like the extra work for something you think is unimportant? DON'T MAKE A COMIC ABOUT THE STORY THEN. That's equally as unpleasant as anime/manga translators/localizers turning their job into fanfiction writing by making up what characters are saying.
It's disappointing seeing this type of thing happen so often when it comes to novel-to-comic adaptations and making a potentially amazing story so annoying, boring or shitty to read.
I really wish people would stop doing this.
