The box is the proof of Mo's feelings. Mo is always tsundere so he never outright says what he feels but that box shows he does care and did miss Hetian. He couldn't even throw away the items of someone he supposedly "dislikes." Which is a reality check for Hetian because although it is shown he likes Mo no matter what and will continue to interject himself into Mo's life, he has never had this much of a physical confirmation before. Mo constantly rejects him so he got used to thinking "I'm the only one who has real interest in this relationship" but he now understands the weight of his presence means more to Mo than Mo let on and he may have not been the only one who has interest in the relationship.
Idk what old xian is gonna draw next but it will be funny if Hetian teases Mo about the box and Mo denies it and attempt to destroy it or smth but Hetian is gonna find it stashed in another spot lol.
