Considering how often sexual assault and rape happens in the church; in gods name, and done by his people— safe to say it’s pretty accurate in that sense. Church is a pedofile’s playground, after all.
I just thought the same, Christians (honestly most religions) are always super sensitive when anything bad gets mentioned about their church but also love to turn a blind eye to the actual problems in their community

Just wanted to add my two cents to this but also I think it very well shows how people who are the victims of thes acts are taught to feel ashamed of themselves by the church. His internal struggle with what's happened/happening to him and being to scared to get help because the church has taught him that he is a sinner and wrong and bad for what's being done to him is pretty accurate and heartbreaking.

Yes that explains it perfectly, they enforce shame, guilt and fear which makes the problem even worse cause the victims (who are sadly mostly children) are scared to say something or blame themselves

100% agree... like the SA and rapes account of the clergy that is being masked by the church is astounding... especially the Roman Catholic instead of turning preist into jail they just relocated them and the streak of their pedophile, rape and SA continues with victims no chance of justice.
