Real serious here, but there’s a been a trend towards more domineering men in literature, like in f/m dark romance, which leads to more rape/non-con. For some people it’s a fetish, or something that they imagine liking but wouldn’t like in real life, but I’m not so sure if the majority of people enjoy the rape so much as they do the “I hate everyone but I love you and am soft for you” that comes after it. However it seems like with BL it crosses the genre lines and happens even in stories that are supposed to be cute. It’s possible that people find it more permissible (or maybe not permissible, but that someone can be redeemed after raping someone) when it’s two men because BL readers tend to be women. They might find it less uncomfortable since they can’t imagine themselves in that position since they aren’t a man. There’s also desensitization since it happens so often. I don’t think this is the type of story that a new BL reader would pick up, so the people here are already used to seeing this kind of content.
At this point the plot line with the best suspense is whether Seonho will ever put on some goddamn pants. I’m so damn tired of this grown ass man Winnie the Poohing it out here with pole hole and cheeks slapping in the wind.
On anther note….
Do BL authors think gay sex is rape or only hot if it’s rape? I don’t get it? It’s so weird and at times insulting as a queer man to see this trope permeated throughout the genre.
