I would totally agree with you if I did think this was the authors intent but I truly don’t think it is or at least it’s not the way most fans of this manhwa perceive it. If you look at the comments or any discussion around this manhwa it’s always “omg he’s so toxic but he’s hot so it’s okay”. I will read this through till the end cause if the author does prove this was all a doomed couple from the start I will be like okay this is amazing! But I truly think this is just another case of the abusive seme trope on yaoi that many ppl enjoy for some reason

Respectfully, I don't think you got the point of OPs comment. If this is the redemption arc so to speak, why are we only being shown no development, he's as pushy demanding and selfish as ever AND we were shown another memory of him being shitty. Noticing a bruise on his arm wasn't enough to make up for the memory we got, we couldn't even say "well that's development". So it's weird because what is the author planning that could possibly make us not just disgusted and done with JK? Idk at this point

I was hopeful for this manhwa since I thought the author did an okay job with the redemption arc in BJ Alex, but so far Jaekyung’s “redemption” is actual buns. There better be a breakdown to end all fucking breakdowns in the future (I’m talking tears, snot, throwing up, absolute devastation) for all this to be worth anything.

Literally! I also think this author went too far with all the abuse jaekyung did with dan. Jiwon was an asshole before his redemption arc but he wasn’t abusive like this and it was easy to redeem his character bc of that.

a redemption arc comes AFTER realization of the feelings. JK doesn't even realise his feelings now. A redemption arc starts from SOMEWHERE. for there to be redemption, there is a need to have a deeper connection. and tbh what do Dan and Jk know about each other apart from superficial stuff? This is the realization arc. The chasing and redemption arc comes AFTER. he's SUPPOSED to be a piece of shit. this is the build up to the redemption arc.

It's not the redemption arc? He jae doesn't even know he has feelings for Kim and Kim is traumatised with not a single good feeling towards him? For this to be the redemption arc would be rushed and improper the readers are STILL supposed to dislike jae and the thought of him in a relationship with Kim. As far as the readers are aware jaes the only one with anything slightly positive emotions wise to the other , jae lacked respect for Kim and was self centered why would this be the redemption arc? For such a well written story this just wouldn't be.

Very fair. I think Jiwon was also able to keep some of the “asshole” qualities of his personality after they got together since he wasn’t abusive. Jaekyung would probably have to a 180 and become an entirely different person for it to be satisfying because he treats everyone in his life like dog shit. I think Low Tide in Twilight would be comparable to the amount of abuse and I was pretty satisfied with that redemption, but the ML didn’t have the absolute worst personality ever in the first place. I think we’ll have to hope for the best and expect the worst ┑(￣Д ￣)┍

absolutely correct. I also get surprised when people compare jinx to other bj Alex. It's in a whole different league if intensity.
Additionally we don't know anything about Jk tbh, his past, his jinx, his superstition or any family member etc apart from his opponent, no one knows his past yet. He's a very isolated and introverted person. So I think there is a possibility of it going into the direction of Taeju with a more drastic change and some past trauma/tragic backstory. He needs to be redeemed properly and I think he will be. Mingwa won't do us like that (i hope)

I hope you’re right. The only worry that I have I that Dan doesn’t fully seem to accept the scope of the abuse that he’s suffered. He does have some resentment towards JK, and it seems like he’s becoming more aware of what went on since they’ve been apart, but largely he just feels guilty, useless, and overwhelmed. I fear that because Dan feels he deserves less, he’ll accept less, and JK will more easily bulldoze his was back into Dans life. Dan needs to go through an extreme level of realization/self development before JK can even begin to apologize. There are also things that I hope won’t go unaddressed, like the fact that he called Heesung to come in and see Dan when they were having sex and Dan had no clue. Dan wouldn’t figure that out unless JK or Heesung told him.

I personally think we're still left with another realization om Dan's part as well, as much as he's says it. I don't believe that this right now is his breaking point. I think it's going to be when he gets to know about Jk actions Infront of heesung ( the cursed sex scene) By that point there will be attachment. I just hope Dan stays resolute I want the grovelling to be drawn out and LONG. I want 2ha level atonement here. I feel like we'll see Dan's evolution as well. We're seeing his backbone now. but granny has to leave for him to undergo hus metamorphosis I think.
