I don't remember, do we even know his backstory? Also not an excuse in any way. But it will provide some kind of explanation for this egotistical behavior. I still think he should realize what he did and really apologize and feel sorry for it before I could accept any type of redemption.
I think it will be shown this season. He needs to grow a lot before even being able to have any redemption, as you said. Way too early now.
He is still just trying to manipulate Kim Dan into doing as he wants, with no regard for what KD wants/needs.
