Both in reality and this fiction every person is self-centered. The only difference is the level of empathy. If you're lucky you would know what love is so you can give love like Onyu. If you were not lucky, you will only search for things you know exists for sure, but you wouldn't know how to deal with them. They're only words for you, while others know the meaning. That is how Ilmi lives. Ilmi's mother, Sora and her parents were ruined by society expectations and demands.
For me, it's better to deal with reality and understand how things works than read another fairy tale about good and evil, suffering and reward, misdeed and punishment, justice. There are more than enough fiction like this. People are already spoiled by them.
