I'm glad the author didn't miraculously turn him into a green flag. IRL people don't change overnight unless they went through something major (even after they sometimes still they struggle with their old bad habits occasionally). I do wanna see him suffer lots more during the chasing arc. Doc Dan don't give in easily!!
