In cultures and families that heavily pulish being gay it is WAY more common than average.

Japan in general has a cheting problem tbh. Asides from that, there's a prejudice that gay relationships are only physical, experimental and lust-driven, so a lot of bisexual men in relationships say having a side boy doesn't count as betraying their partners, and that also means a lot of purely gays put up with being side boys.
