Ofc they don't HAVE to bare a child. He's not a king or a prince. They can say it's the woman's fault (as it was told in the Middle Ages) or that they are just not blessed with a child and at most adopt a boy from the distant family (like it happend to Jeongyeom).
And if the woman starts to resist or even worse blackmail them - that she will tell her father or officials - she won't live long. They or only Jeongyeom, will poison her slowly and pretend she's died of illness. Or forge another "fatal accident". Case solved. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Actually I don't quite understand the plot, but it's good and very mess up, I don't even know what will happen to them after... despite being wedded, of course it will come to the part where they have to bare a child so it's a mess very mess not a happy ending. No freedom and too toxic. Hoping that must have a lot of chapters because it's actually nice but too short not satisfied
