The ML is kinda trash but at least does things later to redeem himself. So I guess recyclable trash?
The FL is understandably depressed about her life and her relationship with the ML isn't helping. She loves and hates him at the same time. She is hurt by him and she doesn't really forgive him for a long time.
From what little I know from the spoilers she will stay with him until she gets revenge on her family and THEN leave. He tries begging for her to stay but she just replies that she hates him enough that she will eventually snap and hurt him. And he will hurt her again in return which will just repeat the cycle. And he... actually lets her go. He actually understands that he did too much to her. He leaves her alone for like 5 years and never initiates interactions with her. She becomes a noblewoman with her own territory where she spends her life in peace.
Eventually she heals enough and asks him if he wants to try being with her again. Granted, she never returns to the duchy with him but stays in her own territory (though he just builds a portal to come see her everyday). She says to him:
“The scars don’t hurt me anymore. Because I grew up enough that the scars became small.”
"While I do feel lonely at times, I realized that I can live a happy life despite that. But if you wish to take a spot beside me, I think I can be even happier."
Ultimately, I just like the fact that all the pain she endured isn't magically gone the moment ML changes. It isn't gone even by the end of the story, and she doesn't really forgive him I think. As she says: “If I forgive you, the guilt in your heart will be relieved a little. But me? My wounds are still there... Forgiveness is not a virtue. It is just a deception for rationalization.”
A whole lot more understandable than that manhwa about a regressor empress that was abused and killed by her husband yet still ended up with him in the end. I started reading, checked who the ML was in the last chapter and simply dropped it...
